This ad, for Oklahoma’s newspaper trade association, was designed to wake up political campaign managers to the fact that good old fashioned newspaper is still a viable medium for political campaigns. Broadcast has taken the lead in political media in recent years and print has fallen from favor. (Perhaps it is not as much fun to do a negative print ad as it is to do a negative TV commercial.)

How well did it work, you ask?

Coupled with a direct mail component, the campaign worked very well, and it could have worked even better, had the client put more budget behind the effort.
