The Grand Restaurant
This little poster — designed to look like an office memo — was created to promote The Grand Restaurant’s Happy Hour and was only used in the lobbies of their building, tacked up between the elevators on each floor.
I always thought that the copy was pretty funny and that Jim’s design was wonderfully simple. ( Get a load of The Grands’s generous 3:30 to 5:30 Happy Hour. Set your alarm clock!)
But after they were printed and placed in the lobbies, the posters kept disappearing.
At the time Jim and I assumed that people were stealing them because of our humor and creative brilliance — but it may have been the janitor taking them down when he emptied the ashtrays at night.
